The English football machine is working almost without stopping. People play and go to the stadiums even on the first day of the new year. Today the next match day of the Championship will begin with eight simultaneous games. In one of them the Canaries from Norwich City will meet the Lions from Millwall at their Carrow Road. Both sides did not demonstrate a spectacular football in the previous year. Can we rely on something interesting on January 01?

The Canaries have left the English Premiership two years ago. Now they are playing their second season in Championship. Daniel Farke’s team does not have any evident reason neither to be promoted to the upper league nor to be relegated to the lower one. His guys played 25 games and earned 31 points. The hosts sit on the thirteenth place in the table. Their basic record consists of eight wins, seven draws and ten losses. The first half of Autumn was the most successful time for the Citizens. From the end of October to present they have lost the main part of their points.

The Canaries have a quite modest result in terms of scoring. They have less than a goal per game.

Millwall came back to the Championship after two years of absence. Last season they were promoted back following a 1–0 playoff final victory over Bradford City. Currently the Lions possess the place in the mid-table as well as their today’s rival. The visitors are the fifteenth ones with 30 points.

Millwall demonstrate a bad away performance with five goals for after 12 games. They are a typical home team that earns mostly on their ground. They do not have any victory on the road.

An overall club’s stats include seven wins, nine draws and losses.

The midfielder Louis Thompson will not play for the Canaries today. As well as Shane Ferguson for the Lions.

In the end of August Millwall have crushed Norwich City by winning with a huge score 4:0.

Norwich City conceded at least one goal in each of their last 7 home matches. Their last two home games ended with over 2,5 in total. Millwall have failed to score in their last three away games.

Today we expect the home side’s revenge. Also we rely on the guests will interrupt their goalless streak on the road. It’s time for the hosts to concede first goal since the Boxing Day. Both squads have not a solid defensive line. Thus, we predict over 2,5 in total.
